Competitiveness Governance refers to a macro approach in development strategy of a region or country. The governance requires integrative aggregation of diverse competitiveness theories in a particular context. It not only is implemented through top-down policies but also derives from bottom-up initiatives of practitioners.

In the Netherlands for example, sustainability in terms of environment as well as social-change adaptation is one of the key issues when national competitiveness is fostered. It deepens the notion of competitiveness given current matter of not only short-term profit but also long-term prosperity.
